The T-Mobile Arena leaked the UFC Championship Fight Card featuring Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane way too early (Jan. 16, 2023). The bout is not targeted until UFC 285 on March 4, 2023 and this leaked the fact that Francis Ngannou’s UFC contract is being canceled as he would have been one of the one’s fighting on this card as he is the current champion of that weight class. So not only was the fight leaked, but the fact that a fighter is not returning to the UFC was leaked prematurely.
This is a bad reflection on sports media communication as there was clearly a lack in communication. There was major miscommunication between the UFC, T-Mobile Arena, and social media (as someone took a picture of the T-Mobile Arena billboard and uploaded it to twitter and so on).
It can be assumed that the UFC will be receiving money (via suing) from the T-Mobile Arena as this information was not supposed to be publicized anytime soon as it completely takes away the hype and excitement of the fight. Viewers now know what is coming to the UFC in the future without the normal UFC promotions. We can look forward to getting more information on what will happen between the UFC and the T-Mobile Arena.
